Since 2010, BB&T has underwritten the cost of the EverFi – Financial LiteracyTM platform, which provides an interactive, web-based financial management program to high school students throughout our footprint. Through this effort, more than 450,000 students have been empowered with the financial knowledge and skills necessary to successfully manage their financial future. A teacher from North Carolina praises the program, saying, “The state curriculum mandates that we teach personal financial literacy, and BB&T Financial Foundations does a phenomenal job of teaching the main standards that we are required to teach…It’s the perfect time for kids to be on the computer with an individualized, self-taught program where I can walk around and provide individual remediation as needed. For me, everyone wins.” After completing the course, students on average increased test scores to 85 percent from 48 percent, or improved to a B+ from an F.

Bobby Blakley, BB&T Regional President, speaking with students in Charleston, WV, on the importance of understanding the basics of banking.
