The BBVA Compass Center for Financial Education hosted Financial Opportunity Months in May and June, creating opportunities for entrepreneurs and future home buyers to sharpen their financial literacy skills through workshops led by BBVA Compass employees across their seven-state footprint.

“Small businesses and homeownership are essential pillars for any community’s economic prosperity,” said BBVA Compass Director of Corporate Responsibility and Reputation Reymundo Ocañas. “Our Center for Financial Education, combined with our highly-qualified experts leading the trainings, provide the tools and expertise to help these communities make smart, prudent and informed financial decisions.”

Entrepreneurs and small-business leaders from Birmingham gathered on May 10 at The Salvation Army for a BBVA Compass-sponsored workshop.

In support of National Small Business Month, BBVA Compass held 71 small business workshops in May, with the support of 145 BBVA Compass Volunteers. For Home Ownership Month in June, the bank has workshops scheduled across its footprint designed to educate future homebuyers on best practices when buying a home.
