House Passes Bill to Extend Veteran Foreclosure Protection

The House of Representatives passed S. 2393 yesterday to extend the one-year protection from foreclosure in the Servicemembers Civil Relief Act.
The Senate already signed the bill in 2015, and will extend relief to veterans through 2017.

John Dalton: There’s still time to fix Fannie and Freddie

OpEd by John Dalton, President of the Housing Policy Council: It’s 2016, and since 2008, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac have been in government conservatorship. Does that mean it’s time to give up on reforming the housing finance system? The answer is no. It is still possible to move away from this government-sponsored enterprise model and create a stronger system that makes affordable mortgages available to consumers, allows more competition and better protects the taxpayer from risk.





Operation HOPE Hosts Financial Summit on Importance of Homeownership in Atlanta

Dalton, former Secretary of the Navy and current President of the Housing Policy Counsel for the Financial Services Roundtable will co-chair the upcoming HOPE Global Financial Dignity Summit (Summit) working group session titled, “Building Wealth through Homeownership, Post Crisis.” The Summit will be hosted from the Georgia International Convention Center in Atlanta, Georgia, on November 13 and 14.
