FSR: NIST Cybersecurity Framework is the ‘Rosetta Stone’ of Cross-Sector Cyber Defense for U.S. Companies

The Financial Services Roundtable FSR, as part of the Financial Services Sector Coordinating Council (FSSCC), recently commended the substance of the NIST Cybersecurity Framework and requested that government regulators use its taxonomy and similar processes when developing any subsequent cybersecurity requirements for the financial services industry.

The comments were submitted in a letter responding to NIST’s Federal Register request for information regarding the NIST Cybersecurity Framework. The Framework has successfully created common “Rosetta Stone-like” standards for U.S. companies to assess their cybersecurity risk management and can be understood from the operations floor to the corporate boardroom.

Total Loss Absorbency Requirement to Help Ensure G-SIBs Can Be Resolved

Today, The Clearing House, the Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association, the American Bankers Association, the Financial Services Roundtable, and the Financial Services Forum submitted comments to the Federal Reserve in response to its proposal to impose total loss absorbing capacity, long-term debt and related “clean holding company” requirements on global systemically important banking groups (G-SIBs).
