Into the Wild: Practicing New Experiences with Associated Bank and the Autism Society of Minnesota

Associated Bank volunteers provide students lessons in financial stability and the importance of saving.

Associated Bank teamed up with the Autism Society of Minnesota (AuSM) and the Minnesota Wild to bring together 37 students with autism for a VIP experience at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul, Minn.

Game days have the power to unite people from across the state, but to many on the autism spectrum, the large crowds and intense noises hold a unique set of challenges. To help students feel more comfortable taking on the unknown factors associated with these types of events, a low-stakes practice run was the perfect way to help families gauge readiness in a fun and supportive environment.

Sponsors teamed up to design a day that both celebrated the fan experience and the students participating. Each sponsor brought something different to the day: with the Minnesota Wild practice and tour, facilitated personal finance activities with Associated Bank and “I am Awesome” written statements and video interviews with AuSM staff. A favorite activity included a chance to make the winning slap shot in the Associated Bank Power Play Zone.

Associated Bank sponsored a subsequent Stock the Box™ event to raise funds for AuSM and the local autism community.

Congratulations Associated Bank!
